Description bogdan 2016-11-07 21:43:38 UTC
Description of problem:
Updating from 4.7.9 to 4.8.4 broke the sound in video/audio files and Youtube playback does not start.
Switching back to 4.7.9 sound works again in video/audio and youtube playback starts.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.8.4-201.fc24x86_64
4.8.6-201.fc24x86_64

How reproducible:
Update from kernel 4.7.9 to either 4.8.4 or 4.8.6 (x86_64)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Successfully update to kernel 4.8.4 from 4.7.9
2. Open video/audio file on vlc/mplayer
3. Open youtube video with firefox/chrome (updated to lastest version)

Actual results:
No sound in video/audio playback. Youtube video does not start.

Expected results:
Video/audio playback with sound in vlc/mplayer. Youtube playback start with audio.

Additional info:
CPU: AMD Athlon64x2 4400+ (skt 939), videocard: AMD Radeon HD3450 (AGP), soundcard: Creative X-FI (PCI)

Comment 1 bogdan 2016-11-18 21:26:30 UTC
The problem seems to be caused by the Creative X-FI sound card. If I enable onboard sound card there is no issue in hearing sound and watching youtube.
I attached as URL the output of alsa-info script.

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE **************

We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 24 kernel bugs.

Fedora 25 has now been rebased to 4.10.9-100.fc24. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you have moved on to Fedora 26, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 26.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
