Description of problem: MPI packages currently have to special-case mpich on el6 ppc64, where it's not available. It would be useful to have it in EPEL6 under the limited arch rules to simplify MPI packaging generally. RHEL 6's mpich-3.1-5 srpm builds directly (scratch in http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=16351350).
"Limited arch rules"?

That looks complicated. So far I managed to avoid having to integrate with Red Hat so closely. Dunno, I have nothing against building mpich for el6, but I have too many other things on my plate. If somebody else wants to do it, feel free.
[Apologies -- I was afraid referring to the policy might be insulting, but I didn't know about it either.] There's (I think) suitable source at https://loveshack.fedorapeople.org/mpich-3.1-0.5.el6.src.rpm which should just need installing on an el6 branch.
Seems good - Dave you'll want to request a el6 branch in pkgdb - https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/package/rpms/mpich/ and then Zbigniew can approve it.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 26 development cycle. Changing version to '26'.
I'll be happy to give ACLs to anyone who wants to build for epel. I'm closing this now because of lack of activity.
