Description Miheer Salunke 2016-11-10 13:18:10 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
=> Cisco ACI via contiv - Openshift Integration

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
=> Internally we want to use Cisco ACI via Contiv. We like the approach of Contiv Netplugin with containers.
We are looking for a Integration with Openshift. We already found this issue on github: https://github.com/contiv/netplugin/issues/397 but this one doesn't tell us exactly if there is well some work in progress about the integration of cisco contiv and openshift.

We would like use contiv/aci in a first phase as SDN controller and vxlan fabric, offloading the network part from OSE to ACI, allowing more flexibility regarding tenant isolation. we are not using GBP in Openstack either but we would like to see what would bring the most flexibility and best integration,

OSE -> openstack -> neutron -> ACI
Openstack -> ACI -> Contiv -> OSE

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

=>  mentioned in the description

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
=>  mentioned in the description

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
=>  mentioned in the description

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
=> the steps for a vagrant setup of openshift with Contiv. I think we have the the manual steps for the AWS setup too that our engineer demoed.

git clone https://github.com/jojimt/origin -b contiv

git clone https://github.com/jojimt/openshift-ansible -b contiv

source contiv.settings

vagrant up

setup_contiv.sh

10. List any affected packages or components.
=> packages related to networking

Hello

Contiv installer is now integrated with Openshift Ansible installer and integration testing and certification has been completed for some of the Contiv modes of operation. Please refer to this page for the latest status on Openshift + COntiv.

http://contiv.github.io/documents/openshift/index.html

Current support is at alpha level but you can get started with trials, testing etc. From a Contiv networking aspect, currently only L2 VLAN mode is supported but support for the ACI mode of Contiv is coming very soon.

Red Hat and Cisco will be providing joint enterprise level support for this also soon (contact your Red Hat representative for details).

For immediate community support related to Contiv, you can also request support on Contiv slack channel contiv.slack.com where members of the Contiv engineering team can respond to your questions wrt integration with Openshift.
