I swear that there was a bug open on this somewhere, but I can't find it now. Maybe it was against RHEL instead. In any case, amanda as compiled in Fedora doesn't have the ability to backup or restore XFS filesystems. XFS is the default filesystem for Fedora Server installations, so it's kind of an odd situation. But if it is built without xfsdump available then it will be compiled in such a way that xfsdump simply cannot be used. It's sufficient to add a simple BuildRequires: xfsdump. This doesn't introduce any runtime dependency on xfsdump so this should be quite safe to do. I would also suggest that the -client package grow soft dependencies on dump and xfsdump. At least Suggests:. Currently the only backup utility that's actually required is tar. As always, I'm happy to provide a patch or just commit changes for you if you like.
Thanks for your report. I have found previous bugzilla, that you have mentioned (#1140321), so I will add BuildRequires for dump and xfsdump.

I really appreciate it. It's certainly wonderful to decrease the count of packages I have to rebuild locally for every release. BTW, please let me know if you're open to having a community comaintainer for the amanda package. It's a critical component of my infrastructure so I have a vested interest in keeping it packaged well.
Hi Jason, thank you very much for your interest. It will be wonderful, if you would like to become as package co-maintainer. Feel free to request package administration rights at https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/package/rpms/amanda/. If you have any question, do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Josef
Thanks; I've requested access. I'm actually a pkgdb admin (and an scm admin) so sometimes when I request access it doesn't consult the package owners and instead just gives me access. Thus I always find it better to ask first. In case it matters, I have a long history with Amanda, having used it since the early 90s. First with QIC tapes and then the luxurious DDS-1 drive we had. (Over 1GB per tape!) Currently run a Fedora server and a bunch of CentOS and Fedora clients to a 24-tape LTO6 library (soon to add a 48-tape LTO6 library to that).
Hi Jason, thanks, I have just granted you access for Amanda package administration. Please, subscribe to amanda-hacker mailing list (http://www.amanda.org/support/mailinglists.php) in case, you're not already. Regards Josef
