When the -resizable flag is use Xephyr ignores the -screen option and always uses the full screen size. Additionally applications run within it always use the full screen size and are not resized when the Xephyr window is resized, with their content falling out of the Xephyr window and unreachable unless the Xephyr window is maximized again. Try with: Xephyr :1 -resizable -screen 1024x768
Note that this seem to have started to happen after a recent upgrade, a downgrade of the xorg-x11-server-xephyr subpackage only to 1.18.3-2 does not address the issue.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
