Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Much of the discussion is private, so let me summarize current status (Fall 2017).

Satellite 6.3 will be coming out without S/360 provisioning support.

We are currently evaluating how much work is it to add this feature.

I am renaming this BZ to zVM only. If LPAR provisioning integration is needed, please file a separate BZ.

I am currently evaluating zPXE emulation script integration, please reach out to customers if this is a viable option:

I have an update on this. I am currently working on integrating zVM with Sat 6.2 via hostgroup provisioning. Here is a video how to set hostgroup provisioning:

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=579f_yAuqgo

I am not done yet, I hit a bug in CDN (missing s390x file):

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1501442

We should be able to document how to set things up for zVM provisioning with Satellite 6.2 soon. I will keep you informed, not there yet.

Another bug is that kickstart media is not being created for s390x architecture:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1364401

Will be fixed. Carrying on with testing.

Comment 30 Lukas Zapletal 2018-02-28 15:25:09 UTC
This YT works with Satellite 6.2: https://youtu.be/579f_yAuqgo

This YT is for Satellite 6.3 (it was recorded via upstream release - it's in blue color): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc5DN_Xov40

Threre are only small differences between Satellite 6.2 and 6.3, the key concept stays the same - use hostgroup provisioning.

Testing the whole workflow end-to-end with z/VM is still on our radar. I have no ETA.

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
