Description Edward 2016-11-29 23:39:10 UTC
Description of problem:

When using a web browser (Firefox, Chromium), the display while using Cinnamon occasionally blinks.

The monitor is a Sceptre X9, 19-inch LCD, the default resolution is 1280x1024 and cannot go beyond that setting.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

cinnamon-3.2.2-1.fc25.x86_64

How reproducible:

Launch Cinnamon desktop and use a web browser.

Additional info:

I also have the MATE desktop installed on the same computer (MATE and Cinnamon are the only desktops installed) and the display does not blink while using MATE, this only happens with Cinnamon.

Output of 'lspci -v' from the computer:

This issue is graphic driver related and not a bug in cinnamon.
I haven't seen this on intel or nvidia.com drivers.

Comment 2 Edward 2016-11-30 01:55:06 UTC
Cinnamon is also installed on a 32-bit ThinkPad T43 laptop, which also uses the 'radeon' driver, however, the blinking is not occuring on the laptop.

Relevant output via 'lspci -v' on laptop:

[virtual] Expansion ROM at 000c0000 [disabled] [size=128K]

	Kernel driver in use: radeon
