Description Brenton Horne 2016-12-10 16:54:13 UTC
Description of problem:

The version of GNU Octave in the Fedora 25 repositories should be bumped to 4.2.0.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

4.2.0

Additional info:

I have attempted to rebuild the rawhide SRPM on Fedora 25 (64-bit) and while the build went OK the resulting GNU Octave seems to have a bug in its text editor. Namely, the "Editor" tab does not appear. This screenshot is what I see when it starts up for the first time http://i.imgur.com/a5aa3f9.png. When I go to the Window menu to try and get the Editor window (shown in this screenshot http://i.imgur.com/3pzu0ZW.png) opened by selecting "Editor" (the one with the Ctrl+4 keybinding) nothing happens, no Editor window is opened.

This isn't going to happen - far too many API and ABI changes for a stable release. May release an update here - https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/scitech/octave/ when things have settled down - but we still don't have everything done for octave 4.2 in rawhide yet.
