Similar problem has been detected:

I created a fedora workstation live usb via fedora media writter installed on a fedora workstation 25.
I did a volume-check? before actually start the live-usb, and the report show that I'm all good.
The weird part fade up after I choose language in 'Install to harddrive'.
It stucked for like about 1-2 mins and tell me that somethings went wrong and now I am writting the bug report and hope the issue could be resolved.
I believe that the 'Install to hard-drive' app can still functioning but I couldn't try it before submitting this bug report.

Install procedure from Fedora 25 (Fedora-Cinnamon-Live-x86_64-25-1.3) to HardDisk (Model ST320LT007-9ZV142) where already present dual boot with Windows / pro and Fedora 24 (LVI with swap, / and /home). The Hp probook 4540s has 12Gb Ram. The crash happened after passing the first parameters (kbd, language, timezone, network, Destination Disk).

Similar problem has been detected:

Installing Fedora-25 MATE spin. Wrote ISO to a USB stick via Media Writer and booted into Live CD.
Selected "Install to Hard Drive", saw that English was the default and clicked Next. At that point there
was a LONG delay (minutes) before jumping to the "Installation Summary" screen but with (this) error dialog
offering to report the error.

Additional Info
1) First two disks in RAID mirror (/dev/md126). Used as an LVM PV. (see pvscan below)
2) Dual Heads with NVIDIA NVS290
3) Running gparted shows "The driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes, but Linux says it is 512 bytes"
4) pvscan results

Not sure why my diagnostic info was not automatically uploaded (I said "yes"). I am attaching manually as anaconda-2017-05-13-14:38:20.423658-5373.tar.gz

Diagnostic files per comment 16

This file contains the files that should have been automatically uploaded but were not for some reason.

Diagnostic files from Workstation attempt (vs MATE)

Repeated F25 install, but with "Workstation" rather than "MATE Spin". Failed in similar manner but with a different error message, which is probably more indicative of MY underlying problem.

Error message = "Not using lvmetad because duplicate PVs were found".
This message was also contained in the previous MATE spin failure, but it seemed to have struggled forward a bit more and the single summary reason was different.

To recap, the "reason" file contents are:

MATE:
pyanaconda.packaging.PayloadInstallError: Failed to mount the install tree

WORKSTATION:
gi.overrides.BlockDev.LVMError: Process reported exit code 1280: WARNING: Not using lvmetad because duplicate PVs were found

Next I'll try the SERVER ISO. Not terribly hopeful though.

Comment 19 Charles Butterfield 2017-05-14 21:36:32 UTC
Wow - Installing the Fedora-25 "Server Edition" succeeded while the "Workstation" and "MATE Spin" fail. So I have a path forward. Further that should be a big clue (diffing the relevant anaconda (or whatever) scripts between Server and Workstation.

Also, I have noticed there is a more finely focused ticket for my problem (failure to detect the Mirror RAID) at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1394467. It seems that the current ticket's error message may have multiple underlying cause. My problem seems to be related to a failure to detect the Mirror RAID used as the primary LVM PV.

I have repeated all of my comments there and will be watching that ticket as well.

Comment 20 Charles Butterfield 2017-05-14 21:38:35 UTC
Repeat the SERVER Edition WORKED FOR ME !!! I did not make that as obvious as I should have.
