Description of problem: If the --dist should be replaced by --release, there are some things which should be polished. For example: ``` $ fedpkg srpm Could not execute srpm: Could not find the dist from branch name private-ruby-2.4 Please specify with --dist $ fedpkg --dist f26 srpm /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pyrpkg/cli.py:37: DeprecationWarning: --dist is deprecated and will be removed in future version. Use --release instead. 'Use --release instead.', DeprecationWarning) ``` and in manual pages: ``` --release is an alias of --dist, hence --release should be instead. ``` If that is alias or not, that is probably not reason to use one or the other. But anyway, shouldn't this be the opposite way, e.g. --dist should be alias to --release, since the --release is the new shiny thing. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): $ rpm -q fedpkg fedpkg-1.26-2.fc26.noarch
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 26 development cycle. Changing version to '26'.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 26. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
This works testing with recent fedpkg: $ rpm -q fedpkg fedpkg-1.32-1.fc29.noarch And fedpkg is of the same version on all fedoras => CLOSE
