Description Jonas Anden 2004-11-30 04:23:10 EST
RPM does not support whitespace in path names, not even when enclosed
within '"' or escaped with '\'.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rpm-4.3.1-0.3

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rpm -Uvh "path name with spaces/package.rpm"

Actual Results:
error: open of path failed: No such file or directory
error: open of name failed: No such file or directory
error: open of with failed: No such file or directory
error: open of spaces/package.rpm failed: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
Package should be installed/upgraded properly.

Additional info:
Workaround is to 'chdir' into directory and run rpm on just the filenames.

There are 2 levels of escaping needed:

ls a\ b/
time-1.7-22.i386.rpm

rpm -qp a\\\ b/time-1.7-22.i386.rpm
time-1.7-22.i386.rpm
