Description Josh Foots 2017-03-08 20:06:17 UTC
Description of problem:

When Scrolling the UI has to load ever so many entries and this causes it to completely stop for short periods of time. This makes the entire process cumbersome.

How reproducible:

Very

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Scroll in host > content hosts when you have have more than 50 systems
2.
3.

Actual results: Very slow progress

Expected results: For the scroll to be more responsive

Comment 1 Marek Hulan 2017-03-09 07:13:46 UTC
Content host page is in Katello subcomponent so moving there for investigation. Josh, it's not clear to me if the problem is page loading or scrolling after the page is fully loaded. Could you please clarify?

Comment 2 Josh Foots 2017-03-09 14:34:37 UTC
Hi Marek,

The problem is after the page is fully loaded. Say you have a lot of systems in Host > content hosts, the page initially loads with like 20-25 to scroll through and then begins loading the next increment after that. You can see if you have hundreds or thousands of systems how this would become tedious.

I have a customer who is also facing similar issue.

When loading landing page for content_hosts also takes around a minute, and then once the content_hosts are loaded, while scrolling page page gets blurred and unresponsive for around 30-40 seconds.

This is very annoying.

Connecting redmine issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/18985 from this bug

Comment 11 Walden Raines 2017-03-24 13:19:07 UTC
This PR https://github.com/Katello/bastion/pull/179 replaces infinite scroll with pagination which I believe would fix (by effectively invalidating) this bug.

Comment 12 Satellite Program 2017-03-29 16:06:56 UTC
Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite 6 since the upstream issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/18985 has been resolved.

Comment 16 Ondřej Pražák 2017-08-09 08:54:00 UTC
Tables with pagination replaced the infinite scroll, which fixes this bug.
Verified.
