Description Cormac McGaughey 2004-12-21 00:56:27 UTC
Description of problem: The initio.o driver is not included in the
modules for the binary kernel .RPM, but has to be build in the default
configs/kernel-2.4.21-athlon-smp.config thats included in the kernel

I'm using kernel 2.4.21-27.ELsmp and the problem has existed for at
least the last 4 kernel releases.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. up2date kernel-smp
2. insmod initio
   ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/scsi/initio.o
(note: This will fail - its not there)
3. up2date kernel-source
4. cd /usr/src/linux-2.4
5. make mrproper; cp configs/kernel-2.4.21-athlon-smp.config; make
oldconfig; make dep; make bzImage; make modules; make modules_install
6. ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/scsi/initio.o

Actual results:
Driver is not included in the pre-built kernel

Expected results:
Driver should have been included in the binary RPM (should match the
default build in the configs directory)

Additional info:
I've not checked anything other than the athlon-smp builds.

Hello, Cormac. The drivers/scsi/initio.o is unsupported, and is therefore
contained in the associated kernel-unsupported RPM, e.g.:
