Description David Lawrence 2004-12-21 18:10:58 EST
Description of problem:
Not sure if this is broken with respect to iSpec or just documented incorrectly.
According to the release notes on the current hwcert site it says:

5. Configure /var/www/html/ispec/trees/ with an HTTP-installable directory named
RHEL4. When you're done, the directory should look like:

/var/www/html/ispec/trees/RHEL4/disc{1,2,3,4,5}
You can do this by creating a loopback mount of each ISO in its own directory
under RHEL4:

bash# mount -o loop RHEL4-iso-disc1.iso /var/www/html/ispec/trees/RHEL4/disc1
bash# mount -o loop RHEL4-iso-disc2.iso /var/www/html/ispec/trees/RHEL4/disc2
...

When in actuality the way it worked for me was:

5. Configure /var/www/html/ispec/trees/ with an HTTP-installable directory named
RHEL4. When you're done, the directory should look like:

/var/www/html/ispec/trees/disc{1,2,3,4,5}

The kickstarts generated by iSpec have the following line in them:

url --url http://mrhanky.devel.redhat.com/ispec/trees/

Which would need RHEL4 appended to the end to work as currently documented.

This is strange. What version of the RPM do you have installed? Can you attach
your file ks.cfg? I just looked at mine, and my URL line says:

url --url http://conundrum.boston.redhat.com/ispec/trees/RHEL4

I'm wondering if I left something out in my instructions...

Did you choose the appropriate tree on the first tab of the iSpec web page?
(There's a drop down where you select which tree to install.)
Comment 2 Richard Li 2004-12-21 18:29:14 EST
OK, investigating further, the correct fix is that iSpec should validate and
verify that the user has chosen a tree for installation. (Dave did not actually
choose a tree, which causes this problem.)
Comment 3 David Lawrence 2005-01-03 11:57:54 EST
I did not reload once I created the new tree so it didn't show up. .Once I
reloaded all was well.
