Description of problem: Since upgrading to F26-alpha some things in thunderbird dont work anymore. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): thunderbird-52.0-2.fc26.x86_64 How reproducible: Install the plugin "minimize to tray revived" - it does not work. Closing will close thunderbird, instead of minimizing it to tray. Even worse: creating a new entry in the calendar does not behave as before. When i clicked to the date field for the new entry, a calendar pops up. This does not happen anymore. Same with the time, a entry usually popped up where i can specify the time with 1-2 clicks. Now i have to enter the exact date and time manualy. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install lightning 2. Create an event 3. Clicking into "begin" or "end" datetime fields Actual results: no popups appear where i can select date/time Expected results: a new overlayed window where i can select values Additional info:
Short correction: seems like lightning is not available yet for that version of thunderbird, so maybe not a bug.
Same behaviour with https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/lightning/versions/beta?page=1#version-5.4b4 version-5.4b4 - but not sure if this is a lightning problem or thunderbird problem
You should not use downloadable Lightning addon as long as it's a part of Thunderbird for some time. Look for instruction there: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1442836#c7
Sorry i dont know what you mean with "its a part of thunderbird for some time" - when i remove the lightning addon, i have no calendar. I downloaded now the official one from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/projects/calendar/ and installed it, but still the same behaviour. Whats wierd (but dont know how to reproduce) is: i clicked during a phone call in the date field and the popup appeared but only once - i am unable to reproduce it to let it popup again.
You have to remove the your own installed calendar, then you need to go Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General/Config Editor, look for: extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} and delete it (right click on it, then Reset). After TB restart the lightning extension should be reinstalled from system location. Lightning extension is part of the Thunderbird installation now. Do not hesitate to contact us, if you have any troubles with the above steps.
Thanks for that detailed help! I removed the installed AddOn, did a reset on that e2fda1a4... entry and restarted TB. Unfortunately, the popups still do not appear when i click on the date field or the time field.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1458510 clicking on the baseline of the boxes shows the missing popup's and makes TB great again ! :-)
I noticed when i use the arrow keys inside the field, the popup also appears again.
as of today my bug (missing popup's) is gone ! thunderbird-52.2.0-1.fc26.x86_64
THX
Thanks for letting us know.
This bug is not fixed for me. I am up to date and still have that problem! Wondering why someone can post "its fixed" and then its getting closed. At least i would have expected that the thread starter has to verify it or give a comment or something like that. Maybe that process should be changed.
What i can confirm: clicking on one of the "arrow down"-buttons near the text area where one can fill in the date/time, the calendar pops up. But it does not pop up when simply clicking into this field.
Ok, do the Thunderbird work fine with fresh profile? To test that start thunderbird with: thunderbird -P and make a new one for testing purposes).
I created a new profile with "thunderbird -P" and configured my mail address. When i created a new event, the popup did not appear when clicking into the text area.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '26'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 26 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-05-29. Fedora 26 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
