I've reproduced this on 2 machines running both kernels 2.6.10-1.741_FC3smp and 2.6.10-1.741_FC3 Early on I get output, but the terminal hangs at the end and does not give a shell prompt back. Many times it just hangs. I'm also seeing this behaviour on Fedora Core 2, kernel 2.6.10-1.9_FC2 It seems to hang on writing the max_failures line of the output.
