Description of problem: Hello, After a recent update of mesa/llvm video packages, applications like clinfo and blender crash. I'm using an XPS 13 9350 with an Intel GPU. After searching for a while, I found a blender thread that matched my issue: https://developer.blender.org/T51440 Blender 2.78c (downloaded from blender.org) fails upon startup with: blender: /usr/include/llvm/Support/Casting.h:236: typename llvm::cast_retty<X, Y*>::ret_type llvm::cast(Y*) [with X = llvm::CompositeType; Y = llvm::Type; typename llvm::cast_retty<X, Y*>::ret_type = llvm::CompositeType*]: Assertion `isa<X>(Val) && "cast<Ty>() argument of incompatible type!"' failed. Aborted (core dumped) In short, removing Fedora 26's current version of beignet fixes the blender and clinfo crashes. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): beignet x86_64 1.3.1-2.fc26 updates-testing 4.7 M Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install beignet 1.3.1 alongside updated mesa/llvm 4.x packages 2. Observe clinfo crashes and blender crashes Additional info: Perhaps related: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1434911
I'm having same issue with Fedora 26, Openshot uses blender for "animated title" feature which is not working currently because of this bug.
Hi Nelson. You can workaround the issue with "rpm -e beignet". After doing so, clinfo and blender work fine for me.
beignet-1.3.1-3.git20170622.36f6a8b.fc26 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 26. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2017-10cd9f1c4c
After running: sudo rpm -Uvh https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/beignet/1.3.1/3.git20170622.36f6a8b.fc26/x86_64/beignet-1.3.1-3.git20170622.36f6a8b.fc26.x86_64.rpm Blender and clinfo no longer crash. Thanks!

Thanks! You may want to test and leave karma feedback to new beignet update https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2017-10cd9f1c4c Keep in mind that beignet is blacklisted in darktable, so it is not used, but the new update will prevent other users from getting crashes while darktable looks for OpenCL devices/drivers on startup
