RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Did anything changed since Luiz comment? Is HMP supported in RHEL? I agree this could be a bug upstream if it's not supported and there is no real customer issue.

Comment 3 yilzhang 2017-06-19 09:36:22 UTC
Boot up guest and guest(running as VNC server) can successfully connect to the listening VNC client, this function now works well.

And since HMP is supported in RHEL7, so it's expected that after guest boot up, "info vnc" should display correct vnc server status.

Is it like this for RHEL7?

I don't know much about this feature, I've added one needinfo to Luiz.
You may also ask him for more information. Thanks.

Markus is the right person to ask.

HMP is *not* supported in RHEL7. We only support QEMU usage through libvirt (with the exception of documented usage of tools like qemu-img).

Comment 7 Markus Armbruster 2017-06-19 16:00:25 UTC
Clearing needinfo. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Comment 8 yilzhang 2017-06-20 03:35:40 UTC
Thanks Ademar for your clarification.

Since this bug is in Low priority, what is your suggestion or next plan about this bug?

Comment 9 Ademar Reis 2017-06-20 13:36:47 UTC
I'm closing it as wontfix again. Fixing it upstream and getting it in a future release of RHEL is a "nice-to-have", not a requirement.

Comment 10 Dr. David Alan Gilbert 2017-07-05 14:48:42 UTC
I've posted an upstream patch for this:

https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2017-07/msg01039.html
[PATCH] hmp: Update info vnc

I don't think we'll backport this, so it should turn up eventually when we rebase.
