dnf was aborting on any install command.  It looks like it was fixed after running "dnf clean all".

Not anymore.  It was reproducible every time I ran "dnf install <anything>".  Now I ran "dnf clean all" and I can't reproduce it anymore.

it was looking like some very low-level problem, so that's why I asked =(
