Pulp Redmine 2949 0 Normal CLOSED - WONTFIX As a user, task history is removed only for completed tasks 2020-08-31 15:05:33 UTC

Description Chris Duryee 2017-07-28 20:14:02 UTC
Description of problem:

If a Satellite system left for some time with Pulp not processing tasks, it is possible for the task reaper to remove tasks that are not in finished state.

After this happens, dynflow will get a 404 when polling the task, and raise errors. It is not possible to debug the root cause of why the tasks weren't being picked up since they got deleted.

Ideally, only completed tasks would be reaped.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6.2.10

Comment 3 Tanya Tereshchenko 2017-08-01 15:19:58 UTC
The reaper task in Pulp removes records from task_status collection based on time only. This is a current behavior and it is working as expected.

The suggested behavior change (to reap completed tasks only) is reasonable and it's filed upstream as an RFE.

Changing this BZ to RFE as well.

The Satellite Team is attempting to provide an accurate backlog of bugzilla requests which we feel will be resolved in the next few releases. We do not believe this bugzilla will meet that criteria, and have plans to close it out in 1 month. This is not a reflection on the validity of the request, but a reflection of the many priorities for the product. If you have any concerns about this, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support or your account team. If we do not hear from you, we will close this bug out. Thank you.

Comment 5 Bryan Kearney 2019-02-28 19:34:45 UTC
Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support. Thank you.
