RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Ryan Barry 2017-11-02 19:33:23 UTC
Description of problem:
vdsm (for RHV) does not support bonding mode 0, but we do not have an effective way to block users from selecting this during installation.

It would be ideal for Anaconda installclasses to support blacklisting (or whitelisting) available network types.

Comment 2 Radek Vykydal 2017-11-03 09:58:43 UTC
Regarding configuration via boot options or kickstart - this is nearly impossible using installclasses as they are applied only in stage2 while in common cases network configuration is created and applied (boot options) or prepared for stage 2 NM (kickstart) in stage1/initramfs.

As for GUI - we are using NetworkManager Connection Editor for configuration. We could exclude configuring Bond devices in general, but for finer granularity (mode 0) we'd need to have support for this in nm-c-e.

RHV-H 4.3 RFE at bug #1447028 depend on this.
Can you please give a target release for this RFE to be implemented so we can schedule the RHV-H feature accordingly?
If it's not going to be in 7.6 or 7.6.1 we'll probably need to re-target the RHV-H RFE.

Comment 4 Jiri Konecny 2018-10-11 08:33:33 UTC
This issue won't be implemented in 7.6 but we will look on this in 7.7 planning.

Moved RHV-H RFE at bug #1447028 to RHV 4.4 accordingly

Comment 6 Sandro Bonazzola 2019-06-12 08:19:48 UTC
Moved to RHEL 8.1 since RHV 4.4 will be based on that. Can you please confirm this will make RHEL 8.1?

Comment 7 Sandro Bonazzola 2019-11-20 11:11:31 UTC
8.1 shipped, proposing for 8.2

Comment 8 Radek Vykydal 2020-02-03 12:42:28 UTC
There has been a BZ opened (bug 1790869) to allow the feature delivery for GUI, but before starting to work on it (ie adding support to NM) we should ask if the feature would make sense being available only for GUI configuration for RHV, because as stated in comment #2 the support for boot options would be almost impossible, the support for kickstart would require substantial changes in anaconda networking code (handling all kickstart network configuration post switch-root) that might be happening in the future but it is not yet clear how close this future is, my estimate would be RHEL9 at earliest.

Comment 9 Radek Vykydal 2020-04-08 08:01:31 UTC
Still no reply to comment #8 from Ryan, adding needinfo on Sandro.

Comment 10 Ryan Barry 2020-04-08 10:14:31 UTC
Radek, I suppose I didn't see a question there. But if it can't be kickstarted, close WONTFIX
