I understand that ovirt-engine-hyper-upgrade has been tested only with 4.x base version.

May I ask to try it with 3.4 as base version? We still have customers there, and we would like to help them upgrade to 3.6.

The 3.6->4.0 upgrade is not expected to be automatic as it is a backup/restore flow.
