Description Vatsal Parekh 2018-06-27 11:19:20 UTC
Description of problem:
Booting of a VM seems very slow, it even started booting after few hours for me.
The VMI was shown in running and nothing much wrong was found in any logs.
I was not able to ssh, mainly because the Vm was still booting.
The booting started after sometime, and still booting slowly after 2 more hours
Checked this same on cirros and rhel image, so image in probably not the issue here

Additional info:

 * The ocp node is a vm which uses nested virtualization.
 * In our kubevirtci cluster we had similar issues, until we disable spectre/meltdown patches on the ocp node. @vatsal is currently trying if it helps him too.

Vatsal, can you add your host-os-version + kernel, ocp-os-version + kernel, docker version and oc version?

Thanks,

Roman

I wonder if this is related to #1565739

Comment 4 Vatsal Parekh 2018-07-02 13:01:09 UTC
I am not able to reproduce this currently, booting seems quick enough for now, will update if I hit this again

Comment 5 Fabian Deutsch 2018-07-03 12:18:02 UTC
Dropping prio and sev due to not being able to reproduce.

Comment 6 Fabian Deutsch 2018-07-17 12:20:15 UTC
Roman, where do we stand here?

Comment 7 Roman Mohr 2018-07-17 12:31:52 UTC
Fabian, I got no infos about the surrounding environment on my needinfo request and if I read Vatsals last comment correctly he does not seem to be able to reproduce it.

Comment 8 Roman Mohr 2018-07-17 12:36:18 UTC
I am currently investigating if issues like this happen in general too in order to allow running CI on VMs with nested virtualization.

Comment 9 Fabian Deutsch 2018-07-17 12:38:38 UTC
Okay.

Vatsal, please re-open if you got a reproducer, closing this until then.
