Description Ian Donaldson 2018-07-02 00:58:36 UTC
Description of problem:

kickstart used to setup yp.conf if --enablenis and --nisdomain=something
was set in kickstart.cfg prior to fc28. It no longer does. yp.conf
is only full of comments.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

anaconda-gui-28.22.11-1.fc28.x86_64

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:

1. setup kickstart.cfg to have something like this:

auth --useshadow --passalgo=md5 --enablecache --enablenis --nisdomain=MYNISDOMAIN

and have ypbind in the %packages list

2. do kickstart

3.

Actual results:

note ypbind not running and /etc/yp.conf just has comments

in fc27 and prior, it had a line at the bottom derived from the auth line

eg: domain MYNISDOMAIN broadcast

Can't see any errors about this in /root/ks-postinstall.log

Expected results:

see ypbind running, and ypwhich returns a local NIS server

Additional info:

workaround is to add the necessary stuff to yp.conf in the %post section

It looks like a bug in authselect. Reassigning.

Comment 2 Pavel Březina 2018-07-04 11:00:53 UTC
This is not really a bug in authselect as it does not support NIS in current version. The compatibility tool which is run via %authconfig kickstart script prints warning about unsupported options which should be captured in anaconda.

However, as there are still many users depending on this technology, we will prepare an authselect profile and amend the compatibility tool respectively.
