Foreman Issue Tracker 24907 0 Normal Ready For Testing Page performance issues when there is a large number subnets 2021-02-15 13:40:54 UTC

Description Jan Hutař 2018-07-19 09:19:53 UTC
Description of problem:
With 30k subnets loading subnet edit page takes 100% of one CPU for about 15 seconds. During that time page is unresponsive.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Server: satellite-6.4.0-10.beta.el7sat.noarch
Browser: firefox-61.0.1-1.fc28.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create lots of domains (run this with params "100 200"):
   https://github.com/redhat-performance/satperf/blob/master/scripts/create_lots_of_subnets.sh
2. Track CPU usage and attempt to interact with the page tight after it is
rendered - open the subnet in new tab:
   Infrastructure -> Subnets -> <open-subnet-in-new-tab>

Actual results:
It eats CPU for about 15 seconds and page is not responsive in that time

Expected results:
Page should be responsive soon after it is loaded and its functionality should not affect performance of my computer

Comment 3 Jan Hutař 2018-07-19 09:37:16 UTC
It is far worse on Administer -> Locations -> <location> and on organization edit page. I gave up on an attempt to measure it after about 10 minutes.

Created redmine issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/24907 from this bug

Comment 7 Bryan Kearney 2020-01-15 21:00:59 UTC
The Satellite Team is attempting to provide an accurate backlog of bugzilla requests which we feel will be resolved in the next few releases. We do not believe this bugzilla will meet that criteria, and have plans to close it out in 1 month. This is not a reflection on the validity of the request, but a reflection of the many priorities for the product. If you have any concerns about this, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support or your account team. If we do not hear from you, we will close this bug out. Thank you.

Comment 9 Eric Helms 2023-02-16 19:14:20 UTC
Due to the age of this bug, and our priorities, I am opting to close this as WONTFIX. If this is still felt to be an issue, please re-open with new data from a supported version of Satellite.
