Description Pat Kelly 2019-10-06 16:54:35 UTC
Description of problem: Gnome Software producing bad error messages

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 3.34.0

How reproducible: Turn off gnome-software updates by setting keys as follows:

gsettings set org.gnome.software allow-updates false
gsettings set org.gnome.software download-updates false
gsettings set org.gnome.software download-updates-notify false

Do a restart just for good measure

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just wait and periodically the following error will show up in the notifications: This can take a while, but I always see it on my test machine first this in the morning and usually after I do updates with dnf upgrade --refresh

Failed To Update
Details
Detailed errors from package manager follow:
Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.fwupd:
Timeout was reached

Actual results: Get error message as shown above.

Expected results: Should not get any such messages from Gnome Software

Additional info: The Fedora 31 beta 1003 was fully updated with dnf upgrade --refresh. This has be logged as an issue at the Gnome site as gnome-software issie #823
