Description of problem: Using thunderbird-68.2.0-1.fc31 I am unable to add an account with an existing gmail.com or gmail hosted email address. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Follow the steps to add an account using existing gmail address 2. Respond to pop-up from google to verify and allow T-Bird access 3. Actual results: After verifying and allowing T-Bird access T-Bird reports it unable to login to the gmail server. Expected results: Additional info: Using the tar file supplied by Mozilla I am able to add an existing gmail address to T-Bird. After doing so, the Fedora supplied T-Bird does not recognize the existence of the account.
Another "oddity". I tar'ed my ~/.thunderbird directory from my working F31 system which uses the Fedora T-Bird. This system had been upgraded since at least F27. I copied the tar file to a newly installed F31 VM and extracted it to my home directory. After doing that the Fedora supplied T-Bird was "OK" with the previously configured email accounts. However, the Mozilla supplied T-Bird thinks there are no email accounts set up and prompts to define one. I find it less than ideal that these 2 T-Birds are not interoperable.
OK, some progress. It seems that thunderbird-68.2.2-1.fc31 from updates-testing fixes the issue of not being able to configure existing gmail accounts. However, Mozilla supplied T-Bird still is not interoperable with Fedora supplied T-Bird.
I'm closing this BZ as it is fixed in the next version. I think the incompatibility is due to "version" detection and not worth looking into.
