Description Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski 2019-12-09 13:09:04 UTC
Description of problem:
It's impossible to enable the use of OpenCL in LibreOffice.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libreoffice-core-6.3.3.2-7.fc31.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start any LibreOffice application, e.g. Writer
2. Open Tools->Options (Alt+F12)
3. Go to LibreOffice->OpenCL
4. Tick the checkbox beside the "Allow use of OpenCL" option
5. Apply, restart and go back to the same option

Actual results:
The checkbox is unticked and there's no error message.

Expected results:
Either the checkbox should be ticket or there should be some indication why enabling OpenCL failed.

Comment 1 Caolan McNamara 2019-12-10 08:58:02 UTC
looking at the opencl detection, feature test and crash test there is a huge host of ways in which opencl can fail. I'll see if there is anything that can be done to bubble useful failure messages around. It might be helpful to attach the output of clinfo here to see what hardware support you have.

Comment 3 Ben Cotton 2020-11-03 15:57:56 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '31'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 4 Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski 2020-11-04 11:51:46 UTC
Still not fixed.

Comment 5 Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski 2020-11-25 10:09:51 UTC
Still reproducible on F33 (libreoffice-7.0.3.1-1.fc33).
