Description Mitchell Berger 2020-02-01 05:22:15 UTC
Fedora 30's rss2email-2.71-16 requires python2-html2text. Unfortunately,
the python-html2text maintainers have just pushed an update which causes
its python3 variant to obsolete and uninstall the python2 variant, though
the two were completely capable of being installed alongside each other,
even if the python2 variant were going to receive no further updates.
This renders your package unable to be installed on a machine along with
the newest python-html2text.

Though I've opened another bug asking the python-html2text maintainers
to drop the Obsoletes in F30 (RHBZ#1797164), perhaps you can more easily
get an rss2email that's python3-ready into F30.

Comment 1 David Kaufmann 2020-02-01 05:54:05 UTC
that is unfortunately not easily possible without breaking existing installations.

I've decided to upgrade for fedora 31 to 3.9, which brings not only proper python3
support, but also a new config file and cache location and therefore needs manual
intervention - otherwise rss2email will stop working.
if I do that for fedora 30, this will render rss2email non-functional without any
apparent reason outside of a sysupgrade.

i'd prefer that the obsolete would be fixed, but if that doesn't work I might have
to integrate the html2text-code into this package.
