Description of problem: The lvm.conf filter is very difficult for people to understand and use correctly. https://www.redhat.com/archives/linux-lvm/2020-February/msg00002.html We should replace/overhaul/redesign the filter to be easier to use and understand, and be more useful technically. The design should be able to cope with inconsistent path names to a given device, it should not depend on using pretty-name links from udev, it should not depend on playing whack-a-mole with various links that happen to arise for a device, it should probably include the ability to use WWID.
