Description of problem:
I did an "everything" install of RHEL 4 U2 on an i386 machine.  I then ran up2date -u to get it up to date.  When I ran install.sh, I got this:

** Removing gcj packages (if applicable).
error: Failed dependencies:
        gcc-java >= 3.4 is needed by (installed) katana-build-2.0.0-1.noarch
        java-1.4.2-gcj-compat = 0:1.4.2.0-27jpp is needed by (installed) java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-devel-1.4.2.0-27jpp.noarch
        ecj is needed by (installed) java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-devel-1.4.2.0-27jpp.noarch

*** updates script SKIPPED!

In the new version of the installer we still require that the system be @Base. 
It does do its best to remove conflicting packages but sometimes it can't
resolve all the issues.

we do include a verbose error message:

"Could not install RHN packages.  Most likely your system is not configured with
the @Base package group.  See the RHN Satellite Server Installation Guide for
more information about Software Requirements."
