Description O.D. 2006-02-23 10:49:28 UTC
Description of problem:
I use a comptuter with a Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit network card (driver
e1000).
After the install (with the CDs), the network interfaces are up and working
(ping ok).
The computer is a 2 AMD dual core with 6 Go RAM, there was filesystem corruption
problems with the original kernel (IOMMU problems), so I was looking for update.
Until the 2.6.15 kernel, the computer was not usable. With the 2.6.15-1.183X,
the filesystem seem stable but the network does'nt work anymore.
At the boot, it says, that it can start the network interfaces. I try to put the
e1000 module in full debug mode, but it only say the init msg.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
FedoraCore 4 and 2.6.15-1.1831_FCsmp

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the computer
2. Optional : modprobe e1000
3.

Actual results:
The interface network Intel is not show by ifconfig and doesn't work.

Expected results:
The interace network Intel is show by ifconfig and working

I've try with a 64 bit and 32 bit kernel but I get the same behavior

Comment 3 O.D. 2006-03-16 15:18:06 UTC
The problem comes from the Tyan MotherBoard S2895 and her bios. Inside the bios,
if you choice something else than OS Intalled : Linux, the Intel ethernet card
are no more detected.
