RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description John Sefler 2020-05-29 04:02:48 UTC
Description of problem:
The rhn channel "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7" maps to a rhel 7.6 product cert , but it should map to a rhel 7.9 product cert in the subscription-manager-migration-data build targeted for rhel 7.9.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.9 Beta (Maipo)
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager-migration-data
subscription-manager-migration-data-2.0.55-1.el7.noarch

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
subscription-manager-migration-data-2.0.55-1.el7.noarch
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]#
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# grep "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7" /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/channel-cert-mapping.txt
rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7: Server-Server-x86_64-02c044503896-69.pem
rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7-debuginfo: Server-x86_64-2ab38165141c-69.pem
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]#
[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# rct cat-cert /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/Server-x86_64-2ab38165141c-69.pem | grep "Product:" -A8
Product:
	ID: 69
Name: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server
	Version: 7.9    <=============== CORRECT
	Arch: x86_64
	Tags: rhel-7,rhel-7-server
	Brand Type:
	Brand Name:

[root@kvm-05-guest11 ~]# rct cat-cert /usr/share/rhsm/product/RHEL-7/Server-Server-x86_64-02c044503896-69.pem | grep "Product:" -A8
Product:
	ID: 69
Name: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server
	Version: 7.6    <=============== WRONG/OLD
	Arch: x86_64
	Tags: rhel-7,rhel-7-server
	Brand Type:
	Brand Name:

Actual results:
rhn channel "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7-debuginfo" maps to a rhel7.9 product cert as expected
rhn channel "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7" maps to an old rhel7.6 product cert

Expected results:
rhn channel "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7" should map to a rhel7.9 product cert

Additional info:

The fix begins with an upstream fix to file http://git.app.eng.bos.redhat.com/git/rcm/rcm-metadata.git/tree/cdn/product-certs.json Search for "rhel-x86_64-server-rh-common-7" and you will find a mapping to "Product Cert file": "/rhel-7.6/Server-Server-x86_64-02c044503896-69.pem". This should be changed to "/rhel-7.9/Server-x86_64-2ab38165141c-69.pem"

Comment 2 John Sefler 2020-06-29 21:53:31 UTC
This issue is only useful to help customers move from Satllite 5.8 to Satellite 6+.
Since Satellite 5.8 has reached End Of Life on May 31st 2020 fixing these bugs for RHEL 7.9 (to be released on 8-11-2020) is irrelevant.
In addition it is too late in the RHEL 7.9 development cycle for us to be able to pull in this change as a non-blocker item.
