Description Amar Huchchanavar 2020-07-30 10:13:52 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
[RFE] RedHatInsights.insights-client ansible role does not have support for obfuscate and obfuscate_hostname.

3. What is the nature and description of the request?

Where using the ansible module "RedHatInsights.insights-client" to install and configure insight on all our hosts.
Now we also need to make use of the "obfuscate" and "obfuscate_hostname" in the options file ('/etc/insights-client/insights-client.conf')
Both values defaults to False where we need them to be set to True.
How can we achieve this with the current ansible module?

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

"RedHatInsights.insights-client" module/role as it sets up and register the client to insight.
If we change or modify the config after running the "RedHatInsights.insights-client" it will be too late as the client have already uploaded both IP-addresses and the full fqdn name witch goes against our security policy.
So we need a way to deploy insight on all servers without sending this information

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
there should be an easy option to control parameters.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
No

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
No

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
No

10. List any affected packages or components.
RedHatInsights.insights-client ansible-module.

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes

Migrating this bug as part of the effort to close the cloud.redhat.com/Client Product/Component.

Comment 6 Christian Marineau 2023-07-17 13:37:59 UTC
Thank you for your interest in Insights. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact Christian Marineau. Thank you.
