Description Fedora Release Engineering 2020-08-03 16:05:55 UTC
cross-gcc failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f33

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=47938113

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_33_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix cross-gcc at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
cross-gcc will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 34,
cross-gcc will be retired, if it still fails to build.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 33 development cycle.
Changing version to 33.

Comment 5 Dan Horák 2020-08-17 15:21:14 UTC
So after looking at the 170MB build.log the build fails in the "brp-strip" phase

...
+ /usr/lib/rpm/redhat/brp-strip-lto /builddir/build/BUILD/gcc-10.1.1-20200507/ar-no-strip
/usr/bin/strip: Unable to recognise the format of the input file `/builddir/build/BUILDROOT/cross-gcc-10.1.1-2.fc33.2.x86_64/usr/lib/gcc/arc-linux-gnu/10/hs/crtendS.o'
/usr/bin/strip: Unable to recognise the format of the input file `/builddir/build/BUILDROOT/cross-gcc-10.1.1-2.fc33.2.x86_64/usr/lib/gcc/arc-linux-gnu/10/hs/crti.o'
/usr/bin/strip: Unable to recognise the format of the input file `/builddir/build/BUILDROOT/cross-gcc-10.1.1-2.fc33.2.x86_64/usr/lib/gcc/arc-linux-gnu/10/hs38_linux/crtn.o'

when processing target specific files for all(?) arches.
