Not enough details. Cannot confirm it.

Is this reproducible in a fresh (i.e. new) user account?
What locale do you use?
What repositories do you have enabled?
Do you use GNOME or KDE?

Comment 2 Thilo Pfennig 2006-03-24 15:34:12 UTC
1. is reproducable on fresh account
2. locale is "de_DE.UTF-8". I just tested - on LANG=C this problem does not exist!
3. updates, extras, base, livna
4. I use GNOME

Is this a unicode issue?

Comment 3 Thilo Pfennig 2006-03-24 15:36:52 UTC
Addition: With LANG=C still some characters are not displayed, but menus are
mostly visible.

Hmm, with livna enabled, you would not have audacity-1.2.4-0.1.b.fc5
but audacity-1.2.4-0.1.b.lvn5

It is not reproducible with de_DE.UTF-8 alone. There's more involved.
Maybe an optional or hostile font package or a global configuration
setting which disturbes wxGTK.
Can you attach "rpm -qa --last > file.txt"?

Created attachment 126657 [details]
rpm -qa --last

Comment 6 Thilo Pfennig 2006-03-24 18:21:36 UTC
I have only enabled livna for some packages. It is not enabled in general.

Comment 7 Michael Schwendt 2006-03-24 19:12:15 UTC
From a software support perspective, your installation is not
supportable. I'm inclined to say "install from scratch, then report
back". The reason for that is, your list of packages not only
contains old packages from FC-4 which have not been updated, it
also contains packages from freshrpms, atrpms, rpmforge, nrpms,
and an msttcorefonts package. Maybe examining /etc/X11/fs/config
and font directory index files would reveal something.

For reference: bug 183313

Comment 9 Gérard Milmeister 2006-11-12 22:14:03 UTC
I cannot reproduce the bug (audacity version 1.2.5). Reopen the bug if problem
still present.
