Description of problem: If I open Audacity I can not read the menu entries Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): audacity-1.2.4-0.1.b.fc5 How reproducible: every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. open audacity Actual results: weird display of all text (rectangles) Expected results: normal display Additional info: I updated fedora FC4 via internet.
Not enough details. Cannot confirm it. Is this reproducible in a fresh (i.e. new) user account? What locale do you use? What repositories do you have enabled? Do you use GNOME or KDE?
1. is reproducable on fresh account 2. locale is "de_DE.UTF-8". I just tested - on LANG=C this problem does not exist! 3. updates, extras, base, livna 4. I use GNOME Is this a unicode issue?
Addition: With LANG=C still some characters are not displayed, but menus are mostly visible.
> 3. updates, extras, base, livna Hmm, with livna enabled, you would not have audacity-1.2.4-0.1.b.fc5 but audacity-1.2.4-0.1.b.lvn5 It is not reproducible with de_DE.UTF-8 alone. There's more involved. Maybe an optional or hostile font package or a global configuration setting which disturbes wxGTK. Can you attach "rpm -qa --last > file.txt"?
Created attachment 126657 [details] rpm -qa --last
I have only enabled livna for some packages. It is not enabled in general.
From a software support perspective, your installation is not supportable. I'm inclined to say "install from scratch, then report back". The reason for that is, your list of packages not only contains old packages from FC-4 which have not been updated, it also contains packages from freshrpms, atrpms, rpmforge, nrpms, and an msttcorefonts package. Maybe examining /etc/X11/fs/config and font directory index files would reveal something.
For reference: bug 183313
I cannot reproduce the bug (audacity version 1.2.5). Reopen the bug if problem still present.
