Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 190631
sata_nv time outs under i686
Last modified: 2007-11-30 17:07:09 EST
Description of problem: I've got 4 drives in my system. When I type:
`mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1 & mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdb1 & mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdc1` I get these
errors like "ata1: command 0x35 timeout, stat 0x50 host_stat 0x24".
This is a 64 bit system but I'm running with the 32 bit RHEL3u7 installed.
With the 64 bit software I don't get any errors.
Under RHEL4u2 I don't get any errors.
This is an nvidia based motherboard.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.4.21-40.ELsmp
How reproducible: 100%
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install 32 bit RHEL 3u7
2. Run 3 mkfs.ext3 commands in parralel (or bonnie++).
ata1: command 0x35 timeout, stat 0x50 host_stat 0x24
Under i686 when I type `cat /proc/interrupts` it says they are all IO-APIC-edge
but with the 64 bit software they are IO-APIC-level.

RHEL3 is now closed.
