Description Corinna 2006-06-01 00:05:28 UTC
Description of problem:
We have a supermicro system with an Adaptec I2O RAID 2015S controller. I
tried to install RHEL AS 4 on it. It initially did not see any hard drive.
Then I added i2o_block in the installation, and I saw the hard drives. It
proceed to automatically partition it. Then, when it got to the point of
formating the /boot file system, it hang.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot AS 4 CD.
2. Start to do installation on a system with RAID 2015S.
3. Add i2o_block device from the menu
4. Follow instructions on the screen to proceed on the installation.

Actual results:
The installation hang.

Expected results:
The installation should be successful.

When the system hangs, try ctrl-alt-f1, -f2, -f3..., on the console. This will
display several text windows, one of which is the system error log. Report any
information about the state of the system, and any errors here.

Which version of RHEL 4 AS are you using? There was a fix in Update 2 that may
be relevant.

Comment 2 Corinna 2006-07-10 18:25:30 UTC
We were using AS 4 Update 3 to do the installation.

I'm attending a conference in Chicago right now. Then, I will be on leave for
two weeks. So, unfortunately, the soonest that I can get to it to do another
install will be August.

Are you not able to simulate it on a system with RAID 2015S?
