RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description yisun 2021-04-28 10:07:12 UTC
Description:
[incremental_backup] bitmap lost when do blockcopy

Reproduced Versions:
libvirt-7.0.0-6.el9.x86_64
qemu-kvm-5.2.0-16.el9.x86_64

NOT REPRODUCED VERSIONS:
libvirt-7.0.0-13.module+el8.4.0+10604+5608c2b4.x86_64
qemu-kvm-5.2.0-15.module+el8.4.0+10650+50781ca0.x86_64

Reproducibility:
100%

Steps:
1. have a running vm
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh start avocado-vt-vm1
Domain 'avocado-vt-vm1' started

(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh domblklist avocado-vt-vm1
 Target Source
------------------------------------------------------------------------
 vda /var/lib/avocado/data/avocado-vt/images/jeos-27-x86_64.qcow2

2. create a checkpoint on this vm's vda
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh checkpoint-create-as avocado-vt-vm1 ck1
Domain checkpoint ck1 created

3. block copy vda to /var/tmp/copy_dest.qcow2
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh blockcopy avocado-vt-vm1 vda /var/tmp/copy_dest.qcow2 --wait --verbose --transient-job --pivot
Block Copy: [100 %]
Successfully pivoted

4. try to delete the checkpoint created in step 2, failure happens
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh checkpoint-delete avocado-vt-vm1 ck1
error: Failed to delete checkpoint ck1
error: internal error: bitmap 'ck1' not found in backing chain of 'vda'

5. check the copy_dest.qcow2 with 'qemu-img info', no bitmap exists
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# virsh destroy avocado-vt-vm1
Domain 'avocado-vt-vm1' destroyed

(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# qemu-img info /var/tmp/copy_dest.qcow2
image: /var/tmp/copy_dest.qcow2
file format: qcow2
virtual size: 10 GiB (10737418240 bytes)
disk size: 1.94 GiB
cluster_size: 65536
Format specific information:
    compat: 1.1
    compression type: zlib
    lazy refcounts: false
    refcount bits: 16
    corrupt: false
    extended l2: false

as comparison, the bitmap exists in original image
(.libvirt-ci-venv-ci-runtest-vUJ1lU) [root@dell-per740-38 ~]# qemu-img info /var/lib/avocado/data/avocado-vt/images/jeos-27-x86_64.qcow2

disk size: 997 MiB
cluster_size: 65536
Format specific information:

Comment 2 Peter Krempa 2021-04-28 10:28:43 UTC
Backups are not enabled and require qemu support for blockdev-reopen. Closing this as duplicate of the original bug report.
