Description of problem: Basically the title. Before installing Fedora 34, i used fedora 32 and 33 and laptop speakers were working fine. However, I did a clean install and now they don't work at all, although the sound card is detected by the system and alsamixer doesn't show any error. Bluetooth headphones work fine so I'm not sure where the problem lies. Laptop model is ASUS UX550VE. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.3.26 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 34 Actual results: Speakers won't work at all (i.e. open a youtube video, no sound) Expected results: Have sound via the laptop's speakers. Additional info: May be relevant: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1721345 Codec is Realtek ALC295 and sound card is HDA Intel PCH
Update: so by running "systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse" the speakers work for a couple of seconds, then don't. Not sure what is going on, since I've seen complaints about bluetooth headphones but in my case it's the speakers that have issues.
I have a new Lenovo Yoga i7 laptop and a similar issue. Bluetooth headphones work, usb headphones work as well but I get no sound from the internal spreakers.
OK, so I went to Gnome settings, and it turns out that the system was configured on stereo. There was no sound. I switched to 4.0 output and they worked. I then attempted to change the volume by keyboard using fn+ volume up/down and it didn't make that pop sound in gnome shell. The speakers also stopped working. I then noticed that by switching to stereo again the sound comes back- but same thing, adjust it, and the speakers stop working. And the cycle repeats. Modifying the volume could play a role in this. Oh, and they're always on max volume for some reason, even though the slider is in the middle (could be a different bug though). If someone can tell me what commands I should run to provide a log, I'd be glad to help. Also I've opened a bug upstream as well, since this probably isn't a Fedora only issue.
Hi tiyicot958 how and where do you "switch to 4.0 output"? Can you explain please?
Hi, In gnome settings > sound > output. There is a configuration drop-down with multiple options like analog surround stereo / 2.1 / 4.0 output (in my case).

It works now, but I think there are a couple of new bugs with this release. First, if i go to settings > sound > output and switch from e.g. 4.0 to stereo, hitting fn+volume up/down will show the animation but not make that notification sound. However, if i hit the "test" button and try to test the right speaker for instance, i can hear that "sound right" voice that gnome makes, and then fn+ vol up/down will make that notification sound. Also if i log out after this and log back in gnome shell crashes and pipewire doesn't restart by itself (not sure if they're related though). I managed to reproduce this 2 times. Anyway, this is functional enough for me so thank you!
