RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description YongkuiGuo 2021-05-17 11:47:51 UTC
Description of problem:
After running 'virt-win-reg --version', the version info is incorrect. It should be the same with the version of virt-win-reg package.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
guestfs-tools-1.46.1-2.el9.x86_64
virt-win-reg-1.46.1-2.el9.noarch

How reproducible:
100%

Steps:

1. On rhel9.0 host with RHEL-9.0.0-20210516.2 compose
# rpm -q virt-win-reg
virt-win-reg-1.46.1-2.el9.noarch
# virt-win-reg --version
virt-win-reg 1.45.5rhel=9,release=1.el9,libvirt

Actual results:
As above

Expected results:
# virt-win-reg --version
virt-win-reg 1.46.1rhel=9,release=2.el9,libvirt

Additional info:

Comment 1 Richard W.M. Jones 2021-05-17 11:51:52 UTC
It's showing the version of libguestfs. Back before we split libguestfs
and guestfs-tools, these version numbers were the same. Now they are
different.

I agree with you it's a bug.

Comment 2 Richard W.M. Jones 2021-05-17 14:34:59 UTC
Upstream fix:
https://github.com/rwmjones/guestfs-tools/commit/9e9eeeaf4c4b478eca82bf0d4c3e680a624d6d91

Note the new output will be something like below. It includes both
the guestfs-tools and libguestfs versions:

$ virt-win-reg --version
virt-win-reg 1.47.1
libguestfs 1.45.5fedora=35,release=1.fc35,libvirt

Comment 7 YongkuiGuo 2021-05-19 02:16:12 UTC
Verified with package:
guestfs-tools-1.46.1-3.el9.x86_64
libguestfs-1.45.5-1.el9.x86_64

Steps:

1.
$ rpm -q virt-win-reg
virt-win-reg-1.46.1-3.el9.noarch

$ virt-win-reg --version
virt-win-reg 1.46.1
libguestfs 1.45.5rhel=9,release=1.el9,libvirt

The output is expected.
