Description of problem: The web UI text field is of limited visual length. This greatly limits usability for any complex searches. It is not easy to view/edit/modify searches without actually copy/paste into some other text editor. For eg: I want to search ~~~ "activation_key = 7676766756565656565656565659edd4f-rhel6 or activation_key = 7676766756565656565656565659edd4f-rhel7 OR activation_key = 7676766756565656565656565659edd4f-rhel8" ~~~ Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6.9 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. For any search field with the large query 2. 3. Actual results: text field for filter/search is very small Expected results: text field for filter/search should be increased Additional info:
Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.
This is one of a number of UI issues that I have encountered recently. If there is no interest in making the UI "usable", then consider removing this feature. There is little value in a feature that can not be used.
Just to be extra sure, is this about the field into which you write your search queries? Ie this is not about the box with the suggestions that appears once you start writing? What are the expectations here? There will always be a limit of how much stuff can fit onto a single screen. Usually I'd needinfo the reporter, but apparently that account is closed.
An advanced search popup with fields to be selected with boolean options to combine them would be handy. I don't know what the solution is, I just reported this as a UI limitation that was very annoying at the time. I've managed to work around it.
