Comment 2 Martin Stransky 2006-08-14 17:26:42 EDT
Your card is used by some another application. Please check this on console
(without the X window system):

$aplay -D plughw:0 /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav

Do you use any sound daemon? (like esd or arts)
Comment 3 Paul 2006-08-15 09:22:46 EDT
$ aplay -D plughw:0 /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/phone.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate
4                                      4100 Hz, Stereo
$

no sound.  As far as I know I'm not running any sound daemon.  how can I check
Comment 4 Martin Stransky 2006-08-17 05:48:35 EDT
Please check "$aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav"
Comment 5 Paul 2006-08-17 10:20:44 EDT
$ aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/phone.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate
44100 Hz, Stereo
$

Have you checked the latest (1.0.12rc1) ALSA drivers?
Comment 9 Paul 2006-08-18 18:32:32 EDT
downloaded and installed:

alsa-driver-1.0.12rc2.tar.bz2

will do rpm rebuild of lib and utils next.

Comment 10 Martin Stransky 2006-08-31 08:47:35 EDT
The new drivers are available on my page, could you check it?
Or report your problem to ALSA project (www.alsa-project.org)
