Thanks for a bug report. There seems to happen some sort of memory corruption, maybe some part of a code freed a memory being used later. I see seven threads calling flatpak_installation_update_appstream_full_sync() at the same time, most of them waiting under ostree_repo_pull_with_options(), only the crashing thread doing actual download of the data from the server. I'm moving this to the flatpak, for more investigation, even the problem can be even lower, maybe on the ostree library level. The next stable version series (42.x) of the gnome-software will have reworked threading model, which should help with this as well.
