Please branch and build cdrkit in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain cdrkit in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
I would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package.

I have tested and the rawhide package builds in EPEL9 without any changes.

I have double checked and cdrkit is not in RHEL9.

Just a friendly reminder that I'd like cdrkit in epel9.

Hi Troy,

Jiri offered to do it (he maintains cdrkit various related tools in RHEL).

I am curious what exactly is cdrkit needed for (that is not satisfied by the current xorriso and cdrskin packages). I know that the compatibility they provide is not perfect, but it would still be good to know what exactly are you missing.

I am aware that the current compatibility interface provided by them is not optimal (bz2015861, bz1967484, bz2030712). Would solving these issues help, or is there something else?

I am not opposed to branching and building cdrkit in epel9 now, but in the long term it might be better to switch to libburnia tools (xorriso, ...) entirely.

It's for k3b
k3b requires wodim and genisoimage

Looking at the notes in the spec file, it looks like it used to require mkisofs and cdrecord, but due to some bug they had to switch to actual package names.

Looking at RHEL 9, it looks like xorriso provides mkisofs, but for some reason, it doesn't provide cdrecord.
cdrskin (which provides cdrecord) isn't in RHEL9 or EPEL9, so either way, some package needs to be made for epel9.

Whatever works is fine by me. But currently, getting cdrkit in epel9 fixed the k3b build the fastest.

And progress on getting cdrkit in epel9?
If you don't want it, I can work on getting cdrskin into epel9.
Currently it's filtered out of the RHEL9 libburn.

First of all, does cdrskin satisfy your needs? If so, it will be in RHEL 9, bz2015861, so it should not be added to EPEL.
