Description of problem: ceph is not developed / tested against python 3.10, but F35 uses python 3.10 as the default and it's seemingly non-trivial to flip to python3.9 just for the ceph packages. There is a seeming incompatibility with python3.10, which leads to a myriad of issues, particularly with ceph-mgr: # ceph health detail HEALTH_ERR Module 'dashboard' has failed dependency: super(): __class__ cell not found; 10 mgr modules have failed [WRN] MGR_MODULE_DEPENDENCY: Module 'dashboard' has failed dependency: super(): __class__ cell not found Module 'dashboard' has failed dependency: super(): __class__ cell not found [ERR] MGR_MODULE_ERROR: 10 mgr modules have failed Module 'balancer' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'crash' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'devicehealth' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'orchestrator' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'pg_autoscaler' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'progress' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'rbd_support' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'status' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'telemetry' has failed: Not found or unloadable Module 'volumes' has failed: Not found or unloadable Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): # python --version Python 3.10.1 # rpm -qa | grep ceph | sort ceph-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-base-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-common-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-grafana-dashboards-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mds-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-mgr-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-mgr-cephadm-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mgr-dashboard-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mgr-diskprediction-local-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mgr-k8sevents-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mgr-modules-core-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-mon-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-osd-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-prometheus-alerts-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch ceph-radosgw-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 ceph-selinux-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 cephadm-16.2.7-1.fc35.noarch libcephfs2-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 libcephsqlite-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 python3-ceph-argparse-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 python3-ceph-common-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 python3-cephfs-16.2.7-1.fc35.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. dnf -y install ceph-common ceph-osd ceph-radosgw ceph ceph-mds ceph-mgr 2. Issue persists in F36. (And thank you for commenting upstream.)
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '36'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version' to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version prior to this bug being closed.
Issue is... resolved in F38! Likely due to the ceph version upgrade.
Fedora Linux 36 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2023-05-16. Fedora Linux 36 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see the version field. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an active release. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
