Describe the issue: The cephfs snapshot clones are not suitable for large subvolume snapshots with small files. Please check the upstream doc [1] which mentions "Due to this bulk copy nature, cloning is currently inefficient for very huge data sets." This should be mentioned in downstream as limitation as customers are unknowingly trying clones on large subvolume snapshots and expecting to be fast. [1] https://docs.ceph.com/en/latest/cephfs/fs-volumes/#cloning-snapshots Describe the task you were trying to accomplish: Suggestions for improvement: Document URL: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_ceph_storage/5/html/file_system_guide/management-of-ceph-file-system-volumes-subvolume-groups-and-subvolumes#cloning-subvolumes-from-snapshots_fs Chapter/Section Number and Title: 4.3.7. Cloning subvolumes from snapshots Product Version: Environment Details: The customers usually doesn't use cloning directly. They usually use it behind the scenes when restoring PVC from snapshot in Openshit Container Storage. Any other versions of this document that also needs this update: Probably needs a mention in Openshift container Storage doc as well. Additional information:
