When cloning a large number, more than 100, VMs on Red Hat Ceph Storage or Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Storage in parallel, you might encounter a state in which no purging occurs on the ceph cluster. The pool will fill with rbd images. Manually deleting images within ceph won't work, unless manually restarting the ceph-mgr every few min.

OpenShift Virtualization 4.10 release notes > known issues

If you clone more than 100 VMs using the csi-clone cloning strategy, then the Ceph CSI might not purge the clones. Manually deleting the clones might not work either.

As a workaround, you can restart the ceph-mgr to purge the VM clones. (BZ#2055595)
