Comment 2 Xiaodai Wang 2022-03-18 02:27:28 UTC
I'm able to reproduce it in rhel9.1.

# virt-v2v -i ova centos-Eaton.ova -o null
[ 0.0] Setting up the source: -i ova centos-Eaton.ova
virt-v2v: warning: making OVA directory public readable to work around
libvirt bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1045069
virt-v2v: warning: could not parse ovf:Name from OVF document
[ 2.2] Opening the source
[ 19.6] Inspecting the source
[ 22.0] Checking for sufficient free disk space in the guest
[ 22.0] Converting CentOS release 6.8 (Final) to run on KVM
virt-v2v: error: no installed kernel packages were found.

This probably indicates that virt-v2v was unable to inspect this guest
properly.

If reporting bugs, run virt-v2v with debugging enabled and include the
complete output:

  virt-v2v -v -x [...]

Then upgrade libguestfs to libguestfs-1:1.48.0-2.el9.x86_64.
The issue is gone.

# virt-v2v -i ova centos-Eaton.ova -o null
[ 0.0] Setting up the source: -i ova centos-Eaton.ova
virt-v2v: warning: making OVA directory public readable to work around

[ 7.3] Inspecting the source
[ 9.6] Checking for sufficient free disk space in the guest
[ 9.6] Converting CentOS release 6.8 (Final) to run on KVM
virt-v2v: This guest has virtio drivers installed.
[ 36.0] Mapping filesystem data to avoid copying unused and blank areas
[ 40.4] Closing the overlay
[ 40.6] Assigning disks to buses
[ 40.6] Checking if the guest needs BIOS or UEFI to boot
[ 40.6] Setting up the destination: -o null
[ 41.6] Copying disk 1/1
█ 100% [****************************************]
[ 47.1] Creating output metadata
[ 47.1] Finishing off

Verified another rhel8 guest, there isn't problem.
