The Chicken Scheme compiler requires its "libchicken.a" library in order to compile static binaries with the "-static" option. This static library is not available in either the "chicken" or the "chicken-libs" package. Was this intentional, or just an oversight? Unfortunately it appears to be impossible to build static binaries with the version of Chicken provided by Fedora 35. If this was fixed in Fedora 36, my apologies and sorry for the extra noise.
It is intentional, given Fedora's policy for packaging static libraries. Although I could package it into a "chicken-static" package, if that's suitable for your usecase.
Sure! That would definitely be fine for my use cases. Where is that policy written? I didn't realize there was a specific policy about it.
